Travel back to ancient Greece by visiting the archaeological sites Olympia the birthplace of the Olympic games and Epidaurus. Visit Nemea the most famous wine producing area of Greece and taste some of the best local wines. Visit an olive grove with 2000 perennial olive trees and enjoy an olive oil tasting workshop. Finally have the chance to taste fresh fish on a seaside village accompanied with a good wine.

Itinerary

Arrive in Athens – Food tour
Welcome in Athens !. Settle up at your hotel and get ready to explore Athens. And what better way to do it than strolling to off-the-beaten-path areas in the city to discover where Athenians shop and eat in a lively neighborhood? Walk in Athens Central Market, stop along the way to sample local treats like sweet donuts, greek bread, regional cheeses, and freshly brewed coffee. End up in a local tavern and discover the secrets of greek gastronomy culture.

Τravel to Nafplion – Epidaurus Theater
After breakfast, we head to Nafplio. On the way, we will stop at the impressive Corinth Canal, which separates the Peloponnese from mainland Greece and connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Aegean Sea.
Next, we will explore the archaeological site of Epidaurus (approximately a 45-minute drive from Nafplio). We visit the ancient theater, probably the most beautiful and best preserved of its kind. Built-in the 4th century BC, due to its excellent acoustics and condition, the ancient theater is still used today.
If the weather permits, just 20 min far from Epidaurus, we can go to discover the Ancient Sunken City of Epidaurus, an underwater spectacle where at a depth of fewer than three meters the ancient ruins can be found and visitors can enjoy snorkeling there. Known also as “Atlantis of Argolida”, overlooking the imposing volcano of Methana it is a unique experience for kids and adults, for endless diving and snorkeling, all day long.

Fortress of Nafplio – Coastal Path walk – Traditional dinner.
In the morning we visit the famous Venetian fortress of Palamidi, a true architectural masterpiece. Perched above Nafplio and overlooking the Argolic Gulf, the Palamidi Fortress is one of the most beautiful castles in Greece and the main attraction of the area.
Outside the old town, we will follow the coastal path that leads to a secret beach where we can enjoy swimming. It is not particularly well known to tourists but is popular with locals when they want a quiet walk in nature. A wonderful, easy route, running parallel to the coast with breathtaking views. Frequent changes in vegetation and landscape do not let you get bored. An ideal walk for kids also.
Late in the evening, we will have a walk in the beautiful town of Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece (1821) after the Greek revolution. The Old Town’s heart, with its maze of narrow streets, and stunning neoclassical buildings, provides an ideal opportunity for walking and exploring. We will end up in a local tavern by the sea, enjoying a traditional dinner.

Travel to Kalamata
After checking in at the hotel we will move to a nearby beach. The rest of the day is devoted to some activities in the sea. The bay offers a diverse coastline with calm weather conditions, an ideal environment for Stand Up Paddleboarding and snorkeling.

Olive oil and wine tour – Cooking class
A half day tour that introduces you to the most important products of the area: olive oil and wine. It starts with a relaxing “olivewalk” inside the 13th century castle of Androusa, a visit at a local winery and at a modern and a traditional olive oil mill. The tour ends with a revealing olive oil tasting & wine workshop accompanied with small gourmet olive oil dishes and a traditional light meal.
Cooking class
Discover the Greek traditional Cuisine, inside a local Greek Taverna, next to the olive oil Mill. Georgia, a local housewife and owner of the taverna, has just picked from her farm fresh vegetables, fruits and eggs and we will cook together traditional Greek recipes. Spinach or Cheese pie, Greek Salad, Tzatziki, would be some of the local recipes that you will prepare!

Dimitsana village – wine tasting in Nemea – return to Athens
After breakfast, it is time to leave Kalamata and travel to Dimitsana, a charming village located in the mountains of Arcadia, among the steep slopes of Mt. Mainalo. Built like an amphitheater on hills just above the gorge of the river Lousios is a place of tradition, history, and natural beauty. Free time to wander around for exploration.
We continue our journey towards Nemea, one of the popular destinations in the Peloponnese, a significant winemaking region. We will have a tour in a local winery and the adjacent vineyard along with presentations and wine tasting with the local producer. After the tour, you will get to taste five of their best wines paired with a salad, appetizers, main course, and homemade desserts.
This is our last stop in beautiful Peloponnese. Then, we will take our way back to Athens where we will arrive in the evening at the hotel.

During this journey we will stay in cozy family run hotels, ranked as 3 star. The accommodation will be based on double occupancy and if you are travelling by yourself, you will be paired up with another single client of the same sex. Single rooms are available for a supplementary cost. Free wifi is available in most of the hotels
